What is a blog?

To tell you the true, I don´t really know what the letter b has to do with log, but you might see through the composition of the word and kind of guess what a blog is.

If a was to define what a blog is then I should say that it is some kind of journal online that can serve for sharing information regarding to particular subjects such as private, cultural,technological,etcetera. A blog´s content consists of articles or posts which are in other words entries or updates with information of interests for you and the people you share information with.

“With a blog one can share information with the whole world or with a small group of people ”

“Well!, so far so good, but that was just the conceptual thing”

How does a blog look like?

A blog looks basically as a webpage and somebody who´s new to the internet won´t tell the difference between a regular website and a blog.

So what is the difference between a website and a blog?

In fact there are business online that are not longer using regular websites but instead they are maintaining blogs.

Some simple differences between a blog and a website are:

1. A blog keeps chronological archives of all daily entries and a website does not necessarily .

2. A website is normally used to publish corporate information that don´t necessarily needs to be constantly updated whilst it is desirable that a blog keeps the brand new information any time because a blog can be compared with a magazine and a website can be compared with an entry in the yellow pages.

   “don´t get me wrong on that one, a website can and actually should be updated constantly in order to get more traffic but that´s another story.”

3. In the beginning when the first blog-platforms appeared, not long ago, they were a lot easier to use than the websites at that time because you did not need to know how to code a website in order to maintain your writings online. Writing a website during those days was tricky; Nowadays there are tools that make it just as simple for a person without high skills in computing to write either a blog or a website.

Just to wrap it all up the differences between a blog and a website are getting so narrow that it is sometimes hard to tell the difference between them.

But how do I set up a blog?

Setting up a blog is quite easy if you fulfill the requirements which are not many. In fact, there’s only one : “You ought to have a valid e-mail address.”

Having a valid e-mail address is crucial while setting up a blog cause you´ll need it throughout the creation process. If you don´t have one I recommend that go and get it first, there are thousands of sites out there where you can get an email account for free. One simple way of getting to all these places is by simply typing on your search engine of choice something like…: “where to get an email address”.

So you got your email address and are ready to start up a blog site, now what?

Let me just tell you that there are thousands if not millions of free places where you can get a blog for free.

So:

1. Search for “free blogs” on your search engine of preference.

2. Pick up one out of the results.

3. Figure out a “name” for your blog.

4. Fill up the rest of the fields and you´ll have one in no time.

5. You might probably receive a confirmation email from the blog-platform you just joined . ( replay if necessary or either hit the confirmation link in the email or copy it into your browser address bar.)

6. Some blogging platforms do not require much more hassle and you will start being a blogger almost immediately.

1. Consider building a machine with a dual core or quad core processor. The multiple processing threads will be very useful when recording multiple programs and watching a program at the same time. A fast multi core processor is a must if you plan on watching and recording hi definition TV.

2. Don’t skimp on the RAM. A good media center will have at least 2GB of ram and should probably have up to 4GB. The ram will help keep things moving quickly while you are recording programs.

3. You can never have enough hard drive space. With high definition TV becoming more of a standard you are going to want to consider having large amounts of hard drive space on your machine. I wouldn’t build a machine that had less than a terabyte of hard drive space.

However, I tested four or five different ones before I found one that operated the way I wanted with my hardware configuration. Be prepared to test some different options before you settle on the one that will work best for you.

7. Don’t forget to order the remote control. A media center without a remote control is a travesty. These computers are designed to operated while you sit back on your couch. The remotes don’t cost that much and they work great.

8. Buy the best video card that you can afford. The better the video card that you have the less chances you have that you will have problems with playback. Before you buy your video card also make sure to check the list of Media Center approved cards. If the card isn’t on there you might want to avoid it. Also make sure that you buy a video card that has a high definition output that matches your TV (either DVI or HDMI are the best).

9. Get a good audio card that is capable of feeding source audio to your receiver or your speakers. If you plan on outputting 5.1 or 7.1 data from DVD’s you are going to want to make sure that the sound card that you pick has an optical or digital coax output. You might also consider buying a card that will convert all the sounds used on your computer into a 5.1 or 7.1 digital audio feed.

10. Be prepared to play with your configuration and build. Unfortunately, building a media center is not an exact science and there is usually quite a bit of tinkering involved in getting a stable fully functional system. If you aren’t comfortable playing with the settings and the drivers to get things to work you might consider buying a prebuilt media center and have someone else do the testing and configuring for you.

In the example shown in Figure 1, the sonic beam is at a 45º angle, with one transducer located upstream of the other. Each transducer alternately transmits and receives bursts of ultrasonic energy; the difference in the transit times in the upstream vs. the downstream directions (TU - TD) measured over the same path can be used to calculate the flow through the pipe:

θ= incident angle of ultrasonic burst waves

To = zero flow transit time

∆T = T2-T1

T1 = transit time of burst waves from upstream transmitter to downstream receiver

T2 = transit time of burst waves from downstream transmitter to upstream receiver

t = transit time of burst waves through pipewall and lining

This equation shows that the liquid flow velocity is directly proportional to the measured difference between upstream and downstream transit times. Because the cross-sectional area of the pipe is known, the product of that area and the flow velocity will provide a measure of volumetric flow. Such calculations are easily performed by the microprocessor-based converter. With this type of meter, particles or air bubbles in the flow stream are undesirable because their reflecting qualities interfere with the transmission and receipt of the applied ultrasonic pulses. The liquid, however, must be a reasonable conductor of sonic energy.

Figure 2 shows three placements that can be used for the two transducers. All are identified as single measuring path because the sonic beam follows a single path, and in all three the two transducers are connected by cable to a converter that can output a 4-20 mA DC signal. The selection of one configuration over another is dictated by several factors associated with the installation, including pipe size, space available for mounting the transducers, condition of the inside pipe walls, type of lining, and nature of the flowing liquid.

The Z configuration places the transducers on opposite sides of the pipe, one downstream of the other. Generally, the distance downstream is ~D/2, where D = pipe diameter. The converter uses specific data on piping parameters to compute the optimum distance. The Z method is recommended for use only in adverse conditions such as where space is limited, the fluid has high turbidity (e.g., sewage), there is a mortar lining, and when the pipe is old and a thick scale has built up on the inside wall that tends to weaken the received signals. It is not recommended for smaller pipes, where its measuring accuracy tends to degrade.

In most installations, the V method is recommended, with the two transducers on the same side of the pipe about a pipe diameter apart. The rail attachment that can be clamped on the pipe facilitates sliding the transducers horizontally along the pipe and positioning them the calculated distance apart.

The W method should be considered on pipe 1½ in. down to ½ in. dia. Its main limitation is a possible deterioration in accuracy due to buildup of scale or deposits on the pipe wall-note that the sonic signal must bounce off the wall three times. Turbidity of the liquid also could be harmful since the signal has a longer distance to travel.

a) a database
b)an user
c)grant all permissions to user on the newly created db

Go back to your domain and complete the form , hit submit and voila!, by now you should be up and running with your worpress mu.

PS:This small guide assumes you are handy ad the unix/linux/gnu command line.
